Diatomaceous Earth Drying Tube – Moisture & Odor Absorber | soil Sale price$31.00

A long tube that soaks up moisture and odors

soil drying tube by a window

The soil drying tube is filled with diatomaceous earth that absorbs moisture, inside an outer bag woven from special yarn blended with diatomaceous earth, which deodorizes and dries quickly. Hang it with a suit or jacket after a sweaty day, or lay it along a window sill in winter to soak up condensation. Its simple design blends into any room, so you can use it anywhere.

When it has absorbed moisture, simply dry it well and its absorbing and deodorizing power returns.

About soil

soil was born from a collaboration between Isurugi, a plastering company in Kanazawa with more than 200 years of history, and the Tokyo design firm ASHCONCEPT. It turns diatomaceous earth, a classic Japanese wall material, into absorbent homewares. Diatomaceous earth is a natural material made from the fossilized shells of tiny plankton; it is full of microscopic pores, so it absorbs moisture quickly, releases it again and “breathes”. Each piece is made by hand by skilled plasterers, so there may be tiny individual differences, which do not affect quality.

Specifications

  • Length: approx. 90 cm (35.4 in)
  • Weight: approx. 500 g (varies with absorbed moisture)
  • Material: diatomaceous earth from Ishikawa; inner pouches: non-woven fabric; outer bag: polyester woven with diatomaceous-earth yarn
  • Contains 4 inner pouches
  • Made in Japan

Care

  • If the outer bag gets dirty, remove the inner pouches and wash the bag. The inner pouches cannot be washed.
  • Dry well after use and do not leave it damp for long periods, as this can cause deterioration.
  • When used for window condensation, do not leave it wet for long; depending on conditions, mold may grow or the surface it rests on may be affected.
  • Deodorizing power depends on conditions; we recommend replacing it every six months to a year.
